Dear Liz,
What is the best way to go about cutting out waste and red tape in our organization? We want to do it, but we don’t want to make more bureaucracy and red tape on our way to getting rid of red tape. Know what I mean?
Thanks,
Talia
Dear Talia,
Kill one silly policy a week. Make it fun – announce the policy to be nuked, or let the employees vote on it – get them involved, anyway. You can probably come up with twenty policies right away that could stand to be abolished and quickly forgotten, or at least made dramatically simpler. You’ll have fun with that, and get an internal-branding boost out of it too, I bet. Keep us posted!
Yours,
Liz
